Kelowna, BC – For most children, March is a time for family vacations and fun with friends. For others, it can mean an unexpected hospital visit or ongoing treatments due to illness or injury. That’s why Stilhavn Real Estate Services and their agents in the Okanagan have come together to make a difference by adopting March as Toyhavn Month—an initiative designed to bring comfort to Kelowna General Hospital‘s youngest patients and their families.
Toyhavn is an initiative born from a partnership between the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation and Stilhavn Real Estate Services. Through Toyhavn, children receiving care at KGH are gifted with new toys, games, and activities to help brighten their hospital stay. These small but meaningful gestures provide moments of happiness and relief for kids and their families during difficult games. Initiated in late 2023, Toyhavn provided comfort to over 1,400 patients across 12 departments at KGH during its first year in existence.
“Hospital stays can be challenging for children and their families, and Toyhavn is a way for us to bring some light into their experience,” said Bettina Muller, Director of Philanthropy, Corporate & Community Giving at KGH Foundation. “By coming together to create Toyhavn, Stilhavn and KGH Foundation have provided hospital staff with a simple but effective way to ensure that every child at KGH feels supported and cared for.”
Throughout the month of March, Stilhavn agents in the Okanagan are rallying support for Toyhavn by encouraging community members to contribute to the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation. When added to the $100,000 commitment made by Stilhavn agents, donations will help provide the resources needed to keep Toyhavn stocked with toys and supplies, ensuring that every child facing a hospital stay has access to a bit of comfort and happiness.
